The Trust works in the local community and are keen to promote their work by visiting local schools and other groups with the owls, providing educational talks and study aids and promoting the conservation of these beautiful birds.
Bring learning to life with a classroom visit and flying display from South Cave Falconry and the Wolds Way Owl Trust.
We have now done presentations for KS1 and KS2 pupils in more than 50 schools in the Hull and East Riding area and, depending on curriculum, can offer the following:
(using one indigenous and one exotic owl)
(using one hawk and one falcon)
Teachers may take photographs throughout and each presentation can be rounded off with group photos so each class can have a souvenir of our visit!
Visits can be booked on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during term time.
- For a 50-60 minute presentation and Q and A session with two birds - £100 (plus travel if over 15 miles away)
- For flying display with Harris Hawk (15-20 mins) - £40.00 (weather permitting and assuming outdoor space is suitable)
If you want to see much, much more you can also visit us! Our centre is situated at the Rudstone Walk Hotel, just outside South Cave, on the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds.
We can offer a 3-4 hour visit during which children can enjoy a full aviary tour (with guided presentation and Q and A session) and meet all our rescued owls, see a flying display with our hawks, falcons and owls, watch the vulture feeding and experience a feeding/petting session with our alpacas, goats, sheep and other animals. We also have a lovely timber cabin where children can eat their packed lunch.
Visits can be booked Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during term time.
Prices start at £4.00 per child (based on 30+ children) and teachers come free!

“We were doing the Owl Babies story at school and invited the ladies from South Cave Falconry in to school to bring the story to life. We were so impressed with the quality of the presentation. The ladies showed us real owls whilst answering the children's questions. They were able to speak in a way that the children could understand all of the information but at the same time sharing a wealth of knowledge. Then we were treated to a flying demonstration which the whole school came to see. The Harris Hawk, flying around the playground, then landing on staff members arms, was a truly unique experience. We will definitely be booking a return visit in the future. Thank you again."

“Ann and her birds have visited our school twice and we are currently in the process of arranging a third visit. The children loved seeing the owls close up and hearing all about them - they then did some superb writing because they were so inspired. I would recommend a visit from Ann to any school.”
